Have you ever spotted someone squeezing a bird, kissing it and in some cases saying "this is my little baby"? no? Maybe this is more frequently heard from individuals with a puppy dog or a tiny cat but birds have got feelings too. Pet birds like cockatiels are getting to be more and more popular. After all they will cost a lot less to take care of and you don’t need to take them for walks while it is raining while you can still build a relationship with them. I have in fact noticed this myself with a close friend of mine and her cockatiel. This beautiful animal actually reacts to the voice, name calling and presence of her owner. Snowy has even learned several tricks and my friend says she’d never consider having any other kind of pet. They have got such a big affection for each other it really is simply incredible and it’s really something that you can really feel proud of. This kind of relationship which can be created is among the reasons why cockatiels make such excellent pets. Even though caring for a cockatiel may be easier and less expensive than caring for a cat or dog it’s still a major commitment. Cockatiels have needs like a clean cage and the appropriate food and they need regular stimulation. Looking after any pet is a huge responsibility and this is the case with cockatiels too. So before you decide to obtain a cockatiel make sure that you can take care of them properly. They require a specific environment and food and as much love and attention as you would give any other pet. Make a good decision and think what’s best for them and also you. Having a cockatiel for a family pet can be incredibly rewarding but it’s not something to be taken casually.
